  • I’ve been practicing yoga with Cissy since 1999, getting on for 25 years. Cissy’s teaching is focused and disciplined. During taught practice Cissy’s teaching brings about a meditative effect through which I can bring a mindfulness to my body and an alleviation of the distracting activity of the mind. Teaching iyengar yoga, Cissy tunes in to alignment and correctness of postures, which require strength, commitment and determination. For that time I am only thinking of my body which is ultimately beneficial to the mind.

Cissy is able to make the finest postural adjustments via screen images and action sequences and is consistently focused. Initially I found it tricky working out how to arrange props as I have no prior yoga practice experience, now the props are indispensable to my practice.

  • I first learned of Cissy before moving to Nottingham and I could not believe my luck when I discovered she was only around the corner! I started to go to Cissy for chronic hip pain.   • I have been coming to yoga classes with Cissy for many years. She is passionate about Iyengar yoga and shares that passion with her students. I really value her detailled instructions - with previous yoga teachers I was never given personal instructions to help me improve my practice - Cissy always gives each student specific guidance as to how to improve a posture. She uses props to help students adapt for their own body, flexibility and strength and to help us learn and address specific needs like recovering from an injury. Being able to continue yoga with Cissy during lockdown was a lifesaver. Yoga with Cissy is therapy for my body and mind!

  • I have been attending Cissy's yoga classes for years. I have arthritis but using her method of strengthening my muscles and appropriate use of props, I can achieve a range of postures. An important element of her philosophy is to accept your body and through practice train and improve it, not to attempt poses you are not ready for. I believe this has helped me avoid any further physical damage. I also enjoy the pre class chat and catchup with other students before we get down to work.

  • Cissy has been my Iyengar Yoga teacher for over 20 years. She also trained me to teach Iyengar Yoga. What I love about Cissy’s teaching is her genuine passion for the subject, she’s always developing her own practice and passing her insights on to her students. We explore the poses in so many different ways often using props to get the ‘feel’ of the correct actions in the pose to ensure we are working correctly and are not just ‘making a shape’. Cissy’s attention to detail is amazing, even online she can identify how to correct you when needed and she always invites questions if you are unsure

  • I have been practicing yoga with Cissy Harrison for about ten years now. I am a doctor by profession as well as a very keen amateur rider. I am 60 years old. I practice yoga for relaxation and to improve my suppleness as a rider. Cissy is an excellent teacher. Her instruction is precise with good attention to detail. However, she is also patient, with a knowledge of props and the ability to adapt poses for the older/stiffer practitioner. I enjoy the online classes with props. Having the class online is very convenient and makes it easier to fit into a busy schedule. The props make the poses more achievable, especially for the less experienced practitioner. I also do 1:1 yoga sessions with CIssy. It is helpful to focus on my own particular issues and problems and this is particularly important for my development as a rider. Above all, practicing yoga with Cissy is great fun. She is enthusiastic and committed and I hope to enjoy her teaching for many years to come.

Iyengar yoga with Cissy ticks all the boxes for me. I started 1-1 classes when I retired 10 years ago. I love the way we seem to work together, with Cissy introducing new ways to adapt poses to help me work with the limitations of an arthritic knee.
